Spa Night At Home

Written By Shreya Wadkar

After a long week, or even a particularly tough day, you can always use a little quality ‘me’ time. Maybe you just got home from a pageant and are absolutely exhausted, or finals week is coming up and you’re stressing out… All you want to do is unwind and unplug for a little while. Well, a laid-back pamper night may be just the thing for you. My formula for an at home spa night is no fuss, full of relaxation, and a real treat for any body in need of a little TLC. Without further ado, let’s get started.

1. Get Comfortable

Have you been wearing heels all day for your pageant? Is the dress you’re wearing just a little too tight for comfort at the end of the night? Take it all off. Slip into a comfortable, fluffy robe and maybe a pair of slippers, and just let your body breathe. Not only will you feel instantly more comfortable, wearing a bath robe will also make you feel luxurious and almost like you’re actually at a spa.

2. Wash Your Face

Whether or not you’ve been wearing makeup for a beauty pageant or a night out, it’s always a good idea to wash your face at the end of the day. The dirt, oils, and sweat that build up on your face throughout the day aren’t something you want sitting on your skin any longer than necessary. And a freshly washed face will nearly always make you feel a little better. Brush your teeth as well for added freshness. Now is also the time to treat yourself to a nice face mask if you have one. This is an easy way to make your skin feel pampered and taken care of.

3. Run A Bath

What’s a spa night without a luxurious bath? Fill your tub with warm water (make sure it’s not too hot!) and set the mood with some scented candles. If you’d like to, put on some calming music as well. Throw in a bath bomb, some aromatic bath salts, or bubble bath and watch your bath transform into an oasis. Scents like lavender and jasmine are great aromatherapy scents for relaxation.

4. Relax and Unwind

I like to jump in the shower to quickly get myself clean and wash off my face mask so that the bath water doesn’t get too dirty, but if you can’t or don’t have the energy to, feel free to skip that step and just wash your face at your sink! Before you get into the bath, you might want to grab that book you’ve been meaning to read for company, or maybe you just want to do absolutely nothing and let your mind free. It’s all up to you. Tie your hair in a top knot so that it’s out of the way and you don’t have to go through the trouble of getting it wet. Now all that’s left to do is relax, soak in the water for as long as you want, and not think about a thing.

5. Time for Bed

Once you’ve adequately let your tired muscles rest, it’s time to get out of the bath, drain the water, and blow out those candles. But your perfect night is far from over. Dry off your body and apply your favorite lotion or body butter all over your body so that you feel soft and smell yummy. Slip into your most comfortable pajamas, and if you’re up for it, make yourself a cup of your favorite tea or hot chocolate. Now, here comes the best part — snuggling up under the sheets of your dearly-missed bed, maybe indulging in some Netflix, and finally falling fast asleep after a pamper night fit for a beauty pageant queen.
