Water Resources:
As many of us know, drinking water is extremely good for your health. The link below directs you to an article on the importance of getting enough water and how much you should actually be drinking.
Water: How Much Should You Drink Every Day?
Although we know in essence that it is important to drink water, not many know the exact “whys” for drinking more water. Knowing exactly why we should be drinking more water will also provide us with the motivation to do so. The fact that water actually helps to control calories is one great incentive to make sure you drink enough water each day.
Sometimes to hit the point home about how important water is, it is good to use an example of why it is better than other drinks (specifically diet soda). When many of us are trying to be healthier we opt not for regular soda, but diet soda. Regrettably, diet soda is known to be as bad if not worse for you than regular soda! Here are some side effects of drinking diet soda, keep them in mind before you order your drink at a restaurant.
Utilizing a non-disposable water bottle can often contribute to a more consistent consumption of water. Also, in an effort to stay green consider using a re-usable bottle as often as possible to be a role model in keeping more and more disposable plastic bottles out of the landfills. According to TreeHugger.com the United States as a whole consumes 1500 plastic water bottles every second. Think about how quickly this accumulates and consider what a reduction we could make as a country if more people found alternate options to plastic water bottles.
Here are some resources for dependable (and sometimes stylish) choices in re-fillable water bottles…I’ll put one source here but if you’d like one with the cool PageantToPhD logo on it, check out the SWAG section of the website (link is to your left in the main navigation bar). ;-D
You may also be interested in upgrading to a water home delivery system such as Sparkletts. This company will deliver jugs of water to your house on a scheduled routine. Not only does this save on the amount of plastic you consume but it saves you trips to the grocery store and dealing with carrying those heavy water palettes around.
Also consider The Kangen Water Machine, a machine that transforms your ordinary tap water (which may be acidic, contaminated, or chlorinated) into a healthier alkaline drinking water. There are many health benefits associated with the Kangen Water Machine, which include a significant increase in antioxidants. Here is a site for useful information about Kangen Water. The thing isn’t cheap but I’ve known several people (some in my own family) SWEAR by this water’s health benefits:
