Unfortunately moments like these often get more airplay then all the SMART and ON-TARGET things most pageant contestants answer.
Whether you are a pageant contestant, pageant judge, or pageant director, please help raise the bar in what is expected in interview and in preparation for interview. It is what the contestants SAY, more than what they look like (especially since they are all so lovely) that makes a princess a queen.
This isn’t of quite the same sort of mistake, but still. Notice how other people struggle with the same sort of question? This helps point out that PAGEANTS are excellent training grounds for personal and professional development. If you prep well for all sorts of pageant interview questions that thoughtful, intentional practice creates transferable skills that will help you in other arenas of life in the present and future.
